just doing nothing

Another cup of tea and I'm still watching the shadow and sun dance across the carpet. The trees are tossed, wild sideways, and shaken back. I'm sitting on the sofa stroking the dogs and taking in the show with a slow meditative pace to my thoughts.

A day spent, just spent. There are long pauses between making tea, reading a chapter or two, taking the dogs outside and standing barefoot under the sky. A few breaks, like coming up from floating through the water, to take telephone calls but other than those markers - timeless, drifting.

It has been a very long time, many calendar pages, since I had a day like this. Back before this job where there is always something else to do, needing doing, at home or at the shelter. Back before the headlong rush of the county jobs. Even when the days were all job-hunting and forcing myself out of the house to walk and walk and walk just to be on the move.

Restful, drowsy, suspended, relaxed...will I be rejuvenated? I'll hope so and make another cup of tea.

That sounds lovely! Thanks for sharing! I'm delighted you found a day you could simply be.
