I padded out in robe and slippers to the laundry room to put in a load of wash. There is a key on the floor there that I don't recall seeing but as my arms are full I don't stop to pick it up. Soap and bedding into the washer, dial turned and set, water rushes in to start the process. Out I go into the rain and stand there just a bit, grinning up into the soft cold fall of it - just along enough to begin to feel somewhat chill. I hurry back up the few steps to the front door and...it is locked. I've somehow locked myself out of the house.
I circle the house, to see if I left a window open that I might climb in through but nope.
The dogs start barking at me.
Then I flash on the key on the floor of the laundry room. We have been missing our extra key for well over a month now with no real idea of how it managed to go missing from under the Kwan Yin statue.
The key does in fact fit the lock and it turns!
Laughing I go into the kitchen to give the dogs each a cookie and light a stick of incense to my Lady Kwan Yin.
Life is like that sometimes!
