non-profit planning
Jul. 22nd, 2011 10:58 pmThere are things need doing, services need to be provided, classes need to be offered - humane education, dog safety, animal assisted therapy, and related subjects. Local organizations and government agencies are currently unable to provide all that are needed of these to our community. I'm betting there is a niche for a non-profit to do this. Finding myself unemployed, capable, and eager - I'm taking this on. I've had positive conversations with a few local organizations related to this issue and how we might move to offer solutions.
Anyone interested in me bending their ear, bouncing ideas off of them, offering general supportive advise, warnings and/or personal experiences, please do drop me a note or post.
I'm looking at starting by offering my Head Start (PetStart) program, in Santa Cruz County, in partnership with Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter, this coming fall. I've been lucky enough to be able to be of help with summer kids camp with the Santa Cruz SPCA already! Other classroom based sessions to come in 2011, along with a few potential fee based courses to help support these.
I'm researching starting a non-profit and an LLC...rather a bit overwhelming but I have good help.
*deep breath* Here we go!
